My first indication of her personality was when I was about 6 months into my pregnancy and she decided to try to come a bit early. Lucky for us the doctors were able to stop her, but she was still determined to arrive on her own terms and and was born 10 days before her due date. Hence, I call her my social butterfly... always wanting to be out and about, meeting new people, grabbing their attention and being in the spotlight. She still to this day, does things on her terms 25 years later.
My most cherished memory of the two of us was the day I came home from court after the judge stated I was no longer married to her father and declared me a single person again. I was worried about being a single mom and wondered how this was going to change the two of us. After court, I picked Kristin up from my moms and we drove home. She was about 18 months old and I held her on my lap and I told her I was sorry and that things were going to be tough. I don't really think she understood what I was saying, but she knew enough to reach out and put her tiny little hand on my cheek and say, "I'm sorry too!" I honestly don't think I have ever hugged her tighter, than I did that day. She was my solid ground and my motivator.
We have pretty much spent every year since then telling each other "I'm sorry" for one reason or another, both of us have made our share of mistakes. That is just who we are. But one thing is for sure, I wouldn't have wanted to go through life without her! I can only hope I have taught her half, of what she has taught me!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Kristin!!!! I love you, Mom
