Another Year Almost Gone...

Wow, 2007 has really passed pretty quick for me and I've decided to take a look back.

My husband and I went to our very first Daytona 500 race in Florida this past February. My cousin Rex and his wife Jeannie flew to Daytona from California and we all had a good time watching the race. I am sorry my cousin lost his camera, I bet who ever found it got a chuckle. (we're a chuckle kind of family). We also went to the Atlanta race in the spring. Best seats I've ever had at a Nascar race. And the tickets were free, thanks to my husbands employer!

Another highlight for me was, I didn't have to fly anywhere (I hate flying) or travel to Texas for any court hearings (I hate court hearings). I found out that two, yes two, of my husbands brothers are taking the plunge and getting married again soon! Best Wishes to you! I have realized that my mother in law and father in law are great people to get advice from when needed. They are equal opportunity parents! I'm proud to call them mom and dad.

Also realized, It won't kill me if my daughter takes a break from talking to me for a few months while she gets things in her life together. I have also gained a deeper appreciation for my husband, he has learned to treat me with more respect and understanding this year. I think he is starting to figure me out... I know that's not an easy task honey!

Here's a big thing.... I turned 47 this year and I'm okay with it, thanks to everyone for telling me I don't look my age! I also quit biting my fingernails, which was a big milestone for me.

My husband purchased a new truck for me and I really love it. I liked the car he got me earlier in the year, but it just wasn't a truck. Now we just need to get the dual exhaust on it so it has a good sound to it when I start it up.

Oh, this year Ethan and I declared we would/could have "pajama days". We really get into it, it's our day to stay at home and just be totally relaxed and do nothing but hang out at home with each other and play. No laundry, no shopping, no cleaning... pretty much doing nothing serious, just having a fun day.

Enjoyed seeing my oldest nephew play his violin in a winter concert, he played extremely well. I also had a wonderful time seeing my youngest nephew have a speaking part in his Christmas Play, it was awesome as well. Way to go, guys!

As of today's date, I guess the worst thing that has happened to me was a bad and I mean bad haircut. I had to see three different people before I finally got it repaired. The first place I went to was Super Cuts... yes, I was in a hurry to get it cut, I was going out of town the next morning. I should have known that there were going to be problems when the stylist turned the chair around and didn't let me watch her cut my hair... (That will never ever happen again) I got home and the right side of my hair was an inch or two shorter than the left side. I panicked and within a hour I went to another walk-in place and was assured that they could fix it, well it wasn't any better.

I lived with that non-repaired, put a bag over my head, cut for a few days and then went to yet another stylist, at this point I was begging for help at any cost. She did a wonderful job and charged me 15.00. It only cost me a total of 75.00 for three different people to cut my hair in a weeks time, the most expensive hair cut I have ever had. I have learned a great lesson and gained a new hairstylist.

I went to the eye doctor this year and got a prescription for new glasses. After he dilated my eyes, my husband and I went to look at new eyeglass frames... I don't advise this, you have to take the word of your husband and some stranger trying to sell you on what glasses look good on you. It was nerve racking, how are you supposed to try on frames when you can't see a doggone thing without your lenses? I couldn't see anything while looking in that mirror. Luckily for me, they did a good job, but the anticipation almost killed me. I now have trendy updated eyeglasses and I can relate to Jeannie having her eye troubles. It's horrible not to be able to focus.

And finally, the absolute best thing that happened to me this year was my trip to Concord, North Carolina. I got to go to Hendrick Motorsports and get a personal tour of the shop where the cars for Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson are built. A place the general public is not allowed to view. I have to admit this trip was the best thing my husband has ever given me as a gift and it will be hard for him to top this gift in the future.

So, all in all, I have to say I have had a good 2007. Three different Nascar events, new trendy glasses that look good on me, a thank goodness it could be repaired haircut, a great winter concert, an awesome play and last but not least, Pajama Days! I love Pajama Days! I thank God and my Family (all of you) for a good 2007. Merry Christmas and Happy 2008 to you all, I love you!
