How Does Santa Do It?

He talks to Mrs. Claus...

It goes something like this:

Santa: Honey I'm home!

Mrs. Claus: How was your day?

Santa: Well, where do I began, It started off a pretty good day. I was all thumbs up and raring to go. I saw quite a few little boys and girls today, I met this one little boy that I have to tell you about...

Mrs. Claus: Oh, Santa tell me about him.

Santa: I was just sitting on my chair when this little boy and his step-mom walked by, the little boy pointed at me and said, "Look it's Santa Claus". So, I waved them over so I could talk to him. He slowly walk over to me, kind of in a way that made me think he was a little unsure, so I reached over and picked up a candy cane to offer it to him and he told me he didn't like candy canes because they are too hot.

Mrs Claus: Hmmm, go on

Santa: I asked him if he wanted to sit on my lap and tell me what he wanted for Christmas and his response to me was, "No! I don't wanna to sit on your lap". Therefore; I proceeded to ask him what he wanted for Christmas... He just kinda stood there looking away from me and didn't respond. So, I asked him again, thinking that he might not have heard me, in a very stern voice without even looking at me he said, (indicating, Don't Rush Me) I'm Thinking!"

Mrs Claus: What happened next Santa?

Santa: I waited and waited and he finally turned away from me and looked at his Mama Gina and asked her "What was dat thing I was talking to you 'bout last time?" She looked at him and said, " I'm not sure Ethan, were we talking about a toy you wanted?" Then the little guy looked at me and said "I don't want to talk anymore" and started to walk away.

Mrs. Claus: What did you do?

Santa: I told him I knew he had been a good boy this year and to have a Very Merry Christmas. When he got to his step-mom I heard him say, "I wasn't afraid of Santa and I think I'm gonna get PRESENTS!!!!

Mrs. Claus: Awww, that's nice honey. Well, let me tell you about my day! I have had problems with those Elves of yours, first of all, they complained about the hours, it seems that they may strike (looks over at Santa) (starts to yell) Wake up old man! You never listen to me, I work hard around here too! I'll have you know, you couldn't do your job if it wasn't for me.... Now, sit up and listen!

Santa: Yes, dear!

Who Am I

And how did I become me?

I woke up at 5:15 this morning and for some reason my first thought of the day was, "I'm 47 years old and really, who am I ?". Then, my second thought, I better get the coffee going fast and wake my brain up, it is way to early to be thinking such stuff! Well, here I sit writing on my blog, the coffee only managed to kick my mind into high gear...

So, after another cup of coffee, I realized why I am thinking the way I am, it's because of a couple of phone calls. I recently reunited by telephone with a classmate from my high school graduation thirty years ago and we have spoken by phone twice. After approximately 7 hours of conversations with her I guess it has brought back some memories, both good and bad.

We all know that high school can be fun, but in some ways it is a stressful time too! People want to know what your plans and goals are after you graduate and I can honestly say that my plans and goals as an adult are not the same as they were then in high school, so I think that is a dumb question to ask a 17 or 18 year old. Why not just as someone what their dreams are, because people tend to hold you to what you say about your plans and goals and it's not fair sometimes.

It seems to me, that life sometimes dictates who you are without even giving you the opportunity to be in control of certain circumstances and with that said, why would I ever want to state my plans or goals to anyone again. What does one do when things don't work out the way you once said, I guess you go on the defense and then one morning you decide to write about it.

I guess even after all these years I am still trying for figure out who I am and who I may still become. But, there are some things I do know! I am a good Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt that loves her family more than life. I am someone you want around when you need some encouraging words, I am able to laugh at myself in a crowded room or cry when no one is looking and since my mother passed away, I have become a very strong and independent woman that has learned to expect disappointment as a part of real life and one final thing I have to mention or I won't be telling it all... I am a bit obsessed with things being clean and in their place... just thought I would throw that in the mix so no one has to remind me. LOL

I am proud of my life and I'm glad those plans and goals back in high school weren't cast in stone. Otherwise, I would have missed out on my dreams!

Why Did I Open My Big Mouth?

Dear Miss Clairol,

Yesterday my lovely daughter asked me if I would help her put in some hair extensions after she colored her hair. I said, "Absolutely, I would love too!" Ahhh, another mother daughter bonding moment. My only request was, for her to be very careful with the hair color and not get any of it on the bathroom walls. (She tends to be a bit messy.) Well, within a few minutes I hear "MOM, COME QUICK! I NEED YOUR HELP! HURRY.... I sprinted towards the bathroom thinking she must have gotten some of the dye in her eyes and it was hurting her. Boy, was I wrong.

This is what she said to me when I walked into the room.

Mom, I know you are a clean freak and I swear to you I was being very careful, I don't know how it happened and when I first saw it, I looked out the bathroom door to see where you were and when I didn't see you, I thought I could clean it, but it just wouldn't come off and started to look worse. I'm sorry Mom, I'm really sorry she said, in a voice I figure only someone would use when begging for their life. Then I saw the real damage, it wasn't the wash cloth she was holding.

It was the bottom half of my bathroom door.

I had to laugh, God bless her, she did what I asked her to do which was not get it on my bathroom walls. Instead, it was on the door.

While I searched high and low to find something to remove the dye off of the door, I made her sit on the couch with a Wal-Mart bag on her head and I strictly stated to her, "You don't move from this couch and don't touch a thing!" Well, unfortunately, I couldn't get the door clean.

Therefore, I want to apologize for my recent post about your product. It seems that I was wrong and my messy daughter was the one that pointed it out to me. Your hair color IS PERMANENT after all! Please accept my apologies and I promise to continue to use your product every 5 or 6 weeks and never complain again. Sincerely, Gina

Why Do They Say....

Permanent Color?Who are they kidding? To me permanent means permanent! One time use! Never needing to be done again! But no, I have to use their product every other month to maintain permanent. No wonder its nice and easy, otherwise I couldn't do it every 5 or 6 weeks.

I personally think this is how the product should work... First you spend at least an hour or so looking at every box in the store trying to pick a color just a little different from your natural color but with enough difference to realize you actually did some damage. Then you go home and apply the product to your hair and wait in anticipation of the outcome. Unfortunately, I know we have all had BAD MISTAKES in hair color choices, therefore my theory is... the very first time you use permanent hair color it shouldn't be permanent (yes, you read correct, I said, "shouldn't") until the second time you use it. I think at that point your hair should recognize the color is the same color you used before and BAM! PERMANENT HAIR COLOR and I mean Permanent this time, please! Come on people, work with me here!

Oh, and don't even get me started on their 100% Gray Coverage... what a joke! I wish they would just be honest with me. Tell me the truth! I can handle it. Just stand proud and tell me 75% gray coverage, to me that's better than 0% coverage. Whew, I feel better now... are you with me on this one ladies?

What Were They Thinking.....

Our Grass Needed Mowing?

My husband left home around 7:30 this morning for work, a couple of hours later I see him pull into the driveway. I thought to myself is he sick or did he forget something, I had no clue. Until he walked into the house and I approached him and ask is every thing okay. He didn't respond. I thought, he doesn't look sick, guess he's not sick! Why is he home before 9:00 pm? I still wasn't sure why the man that works so many hours every day was home early. After going into our room and changing clothes, he spoke...

"I've been suspended for the day".... My reaction was, "What, Why, How? He said he was defending a customers wishes and a superior of his wasn't to keen on the method that was approached. I'm saying at this point, "Do What?" He is saying it will be okay... Then I proceed to ask him, knowing that he is scheduled off work tomorrow, "So, you are now off work till Wednesday?" "Come on, who are they really punishing?" Ummmm.... I think maybe me! He is getting two days off with pay, poor baby. I'm used to being home alone all day with the zoo animals and now I guessing he's going to be home in a bad mood for a couple of days! OUCH!

The next words out of his mouth almost dropped me to the floor... "Just pretend I'm not here and do what you normally do." How in the world do you pretend that a 180 pound, 6 foot man sitting on the couch next to you is NOT HERE! I know, you send him out to mow the yard, give him plenty of fluids and tell him to relax, its your day off! I Love You Baby, and I'm really glad you are home. We can watch Monday Night Football together, the Dallas Cowboys are playing tonight! Go Dallas!!!!!!!!
